Chocolate Shoes - A Great Gift for Shoe Lovers

Chocolate Shoes : An Ideal Gift for Shoe Lovers

chocolate gift shoesThese gourmet chocolate high heeled shoes from Gayle's Chocolates are a fabulous gift for shoe lovers.Photo by Eric Smith, courtesy of GaylesChocolates.com.

Masterfully combining two of life's greatest treasures, and two of my biggest passions, Gayle Harte of Gayle's Chocolates is obviously some sort of genius for having created these stunning chocolate shoes.

Weighing 14 ounces, and measuring seven inches long and six inches tall, these gourmet treats are individually handmade, and no two are exactly alike.

These chocolate shoes would make a great gift for anyone who loves shoes, chocolate, or both.

The original chocolate pumps (shown here) are offered in pink, milk, white or dark chocolate, and each shoe costs $40 (US). But before making up your mind, you'll want to check out the rest of Gayle's chocolate shoe collection, which includes metallic gold and silver chocolate mules, violet chocolate pumps, and several other fabulous footwear delights.

Hi-tech MP3 shoes

Check out the concept shoe as shown above. It features an integrated CD-ROM, some speakers, tweeters, and a volume control knob to boot (no pun intended). Of course, it might be a little behind the times as most portable MP3 players these days use either a hard drive or flash memory and not CD-ROMs. It would be interesting to see how such a concept can take off in the near future, although I am placing my money on at least three more iPod generations before such footwear becomes possible. It'd be great if there was Bluetooth functionality thrown in for a truly wireless on-the-go audio entertainment solution.

The Best Men’s Shoes for the Office

Office have always been a part of a man’s shoe wardrobe. But with plenty more options to consider these days it is easier to find a pair that is best suited to you.
men shoes for officeFirstly you have your traditional black work shoe. These have a small flat heel, a square toe and tie with a lace. Although these have been around for years, you still cannot beat the tradition. Do go for leather if you can as they are easy to maintain and wear. You can polish them to keep them shiny, and when you walk in them they are less likely to rub and create blisters. So often man made fabric will rub the back of your foot raw.

Secondly you can now get very comfy leather that are slightly cushioned in the sole and round the top of the ankle. This eliminates the rubbing issue and if your job involves a lot of walking from room to room, then you can walk with ease rather than a persistent, ‘clip clop’ all the way down the corridors.

men shoes classyThe color of your office shoe is up to you. Traditionally it is considered best to wear black or brown. However, there is no law saying you cannot wear dark blue or light brown. Just try and avoid extremely bright colors, or colors that will make people stare at your feet in a conference rather than listen to what you are saying!

So basically for the office environment you need comfort, sophistication, style and class. Not much to ask for! At online fashion store Very.co.uk you can find men’s for all occasions. And if it’s comfy trainers you are looking for… well, they’ve got a great range of that as well!

Design-Your-Own Shoes

I always wanted to design shoes....which is why Christmas came a little early for me, after reading the article titled "If the Shoe Fits, Wear It. If Not, Design One That Does." in the Sunday Times yesterday. I've heard of tennis shoe sellers like Nike and Vans giving customers the option of custom-designed sneaks, but I had no idea that this was available for fashion footwear. Apparently the Tupli store opened on Madison Avenue here in Manhattan by Kathy Myczowski and Tamara Chubinidze has been giving people the opportunity to design their own shoes specific to their individual taste and fit for quite sometime. However, at a starting price of $750 and with clients like Susan Sarandon, this isn't exactly a reasonable option for many. Which is why, when I read that Steve Madden had a similar option of designing your own shoe on their website, I was intrigued. There are more than 100,000 pairs available and range from only $90 to $170. You can go here to get started. If you are looking for a way to kill some time and like shoes, this is a perfect choice. I know from first hand experience as much of my Sunday night was wasted puttering around the site (for the record, I didn't even make a purchase, which makes me feel a little bit pathetic about the time I spent doing this!)

Mai Lamore Shoes with Beautiful Design

Mai Lamore has been the ‘need to know’ name among fashionistas for months and this week she’s finally launching her new collection exclusively at Browns in London.

The shoe designer has been secretly developing her line of high luxury couture shoes after 20 years in the art world.

Mai Lamore Rose ShoesMai Lamore Rose Shoes, $27, 945.00 or £17, 197.00

The collection is not classed as ‘Haute Couture’ and the ‘most expensive shoes of 2009′ for nothing. The shoes come with a price tag that is not for the faint-hearted in the pockets (prices start from £8,500.00) because it incorporates the most precious materials on earth such as shaved mink, satin, gold, natural pearls and semi precious stones to make each shoe a beautiful work of art. As you can see on the Mai Lamore Rose Shoes above, she has incorporated 18 karat gold heels complemented with the hand dyed silk petals.

Mai Lamore black feather platform heelBut fear not! Mai has also created a limited edition, prêt-a-porter collection inspired by her luxury shoes with a more affordable price tag (affordable starts at £1,400.00). For example, the gorgeous Mai Lamore Eva Platform below left, which is available in crocodile, leather and python.

Mai Lamore ShoesBrowns now stocks her collection exclusively in the UK, and because of the shoes’ exclusivity, you cannot order them online. You have to go to the store so get there quickly because I predict a riot!

Custom Shoes Size

TUXEDO ROAD - FIT FOR A KING

Custom Shoes Size
The Brannock Device. You probably don’t know it by the name, but step in anywhere from footlocker to Cole Haan, and its very likely that this tool will be used to determine your shoe size. The son of the shoe retailer from Syracuse, N.Y., Charles Brannock patented his invention and began producing that instantly recognizable instrument in 1927, claiming a perfect fit 95 percent of the time. For more than 80 years, the Brannock Device has proved its usefulness for off-the-rack fitting. The only way to get a better fit is to commission bespoke shoes- a process that can take five to six months, cost $2,000 to $3,000 or more and, for the best, often will require a trip to the famed shoemakers on London’s Jermyn Street (see W.S. Foster & Son) or Savile Row ( Google G.J. Cleverley & Co. Ltd.). There is however, another alternative, one that melds high-tech sizing techniques and manufacturing processes with classic style- a Florida based company known as Otabo Shoes.

Stepping up to the challenge of creating a custom fit for less was Otabo founder and President Howard Lee Shaffer, a former general manager of operations for Nike in Beijing. He utilized his knowledge of manufacturing a high volume of footwear overseas- his former company, Sabry Jen, produced 800,000 shoes per month for various brands-and paired it with a desire to create luxury footwear with an emphasis on craftsmanship when he started Otabo Custom Shoes. The company creates a variety of custom dress, casual and golf footwear to orthopedic-approved levels of comfort.

The process begins with a 3D scan of your foot, in which a laser-based optical scanner captures more than 200,000 data points as references, creating a digital model that is accurate to 0.5 mm. Then it gets complicated: The detailed analysis includes specifications such as toe curvature and toe height, ball width and girth, instep volume, and heel shape and arch contours, among other minute measurements. The computer uses these details to create a 3D digital model, which is then used to create the last. Traditionally, a shoemaker would create the last, the mold around which the shoe is created, by hand from wood- a method still practiced by London’s finest cordwainers. Otabo, however, uses the computer-generated lathe, automating and expediting a very time-consuming, manual process.

But this is where the line between traditional and technological blurs even further. Just like with handmade shoes, the customer can choose from a bevy of designs and personal options. The leather type, color, pattern, detail and outsole are all up for personalization. The outsoles, crafted from German leather that has been aged for 18 months ( a century-old technique used by the best shoemakers in the world), can be inscribed with a message or monogrammed. With style and options chosen, leathers are precision-cut on a water jet machine at 45,000 psi, then the shoes are digitally bonded, a technique the company claims to be more durable than traditional stitching. Each shoe is then finished and polished by hand. After all is said and done, you’ll receive your shoes within four to six weeks-much faster than fully handmade models. With prices ranging from $350 to $2,000 (for exotic leathers), they’re also much more affordable.

Trend Alert: Statement Shoes

Fashion Shoes TrendAnytime we are on the topic of shoes, I feel my heart beat faster, my pupils get wider and my palms getting sweaty! Can you think of a sexier, more daring subject?
Recession be damned! Perhaps this year we cannot afford or need to buy as many pairs of shoes as we have in the past. It’s okay though…that one time you do decide to splurge on a pair of shoes, make sure you pick up a “show stopper”. That’s right! If you are going to cheat on your recession budget then it better be something that’s worth it. Words to keep in mind are “exquisite” and “extraordinary”.
Statement shoes are an absolute must have this spring. Who needs new clothes when you can spice up any plain ensemble with these gorgeous shoes? Remember, a great pair of heels has the power of making your jeans and plain t-shirt look as though they’ve stepped off the runway.

Take a look at some of my favorites from Spring 09 Collections:

statement shoes fashion trendI’m in love with the Nicholas Kirkwood heels- Oh, so classy, yet delicate. If you could have ONE pair from the collage, which one would it be?

Men's Shoes

Men's Shoes

Men's Shoes – Today's Eclectic Mix

Shoes for men are perhaps one of such categories of a fashion ensemble that probably do not undergo much of a metamorphosis every season. On the same track, men's shoes are also one of the very few categories that still retain a major lot of entries from the past, all along also inculcating the latest fashion and including in its list, the styles that are in vogue today. For a quick look into the wide array of shoes available for you to choose from, start by browsing through the basic, evergreen styles of shoes for men. To begin with, start with the likes of boots and casual shoes that come in both conventional as well as modern styles. Carrying an extremely elegant look if worn with coordinated attires, these shoes go equally well with jeans and casual trousers. The further extensive range of casual men's shoes, varying right from the refined to the rugged ones, capable of being teamed up with casual and stylish jeans, even khakis.

Mens Shoes
Moving on to a more formal and stiff look, choose the Dress Shoe which will go just perfectly with dress occasions. Apart from a sharp dress shoe, even the lace-up and slip-on shoes can work equally well for formal occasions, working especially well with a shinier finish. The typical style of 'take a bow' bicycle-towed oxford from the Kenneth Cole New York line is another vintage-style shoe that never ceases to impress.

Now for some of the most widely preferred category of men's shoes outside office hours, the ultimate in comfort and attractive in their looks, the all-purpose men's sneakers still rule the rooster. Apart from the time when you have to actually indulge in some serious sport or running, the rest of the times you can conveniently rely on a pair of comfortable sneakers as you go around doing everyday tasks of your routine life. For a sample, take a look at the retro styling offered by 'Campus' from Adidas, also available in a variety of colours.
Going back tot the original category list, another very interesting category is that of casual flip-flops, loafers and sandals. Though slightly more favoured by women across generations, such footwear stands out for its unique trait of being open-toed or bared at the heel. These make for an ultimate style statement along with being extremely friendly to your feet.

The brand frenzy

If by any chance, you too happen to be a willing slave of the 'brand-lust', there are indeed a handful of them to choose from. Right from Puma, Merrell, Ben Sherman, Adidas and Reebok to the likes of Red Wing, Vans, DC Shoes, Dr. Martens, Allen-Edmonds, you can choose the style of a particular brand and inculcate that into your wardrobe for years to come, opting for a new feature or model as and when it comes.

Armed well with techniques such as how to measure your foot and choose men's shoes appropriately, preferably in which part of the day to purchase the footwear and the like, you should be well on the track to build yourself a wide and impressive array of footwear to suit all occasions.
