We’ve come a long way since the old wives saying: Red shoes - no knickers. In fact - over the last few months some of the shoes I have most coveted have been of the scarlet variety. They make a striking impression with black trousers - or dress up your favourite old jeans.

When I first saw the Jimmy Choo Friday - in In Style magazine I swear my heart skipped a beat, so great was my longing for this shoe! In fact so great was my obsession for the ruby slipper that my Dorothy complex began. I would wake in the night to take a peek at the mag, I would find myself browsing the net for a glimpse.

Finally the day arrived - pay day - I spent the income of a small country purchasing the ravishing beauties. All of the evils of the world were solved once I had these shoes. I was convinced of the magical powers of the ruby slippers and wore them to a job interview - would you know it I got the job!

But… could I walk in them, could I heck. Despite hours of practice, I still cant! I have to say though - they still look great when you are sitting down!

There are oodles of stylish shoes around at the moment that haven't been within an inch of any animals. How funny, then, that one of the sexiest ranges out there should be sound so much like the noise a cow makes!

Shoe Sale Triggers Family Feud

A pair of Jimmy Choo sandals will set you back about $430. That might seem pricey for a pair of glorified flip-flops. But it's peanuts compared with the millions of dollars at stake in the lawsuit that former London party girl and company president Tamara Mellon has filed against her ... mother.  Mellon is claiming that her mom, Ann Yeardye of Beverly Hills, ended up with $8 million from the sale of a large portion of the chic shoemaker by mistake. Mellon wants that money back, plus at least another $2 million in punitive damages, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

"I tried every means possible to settle what should have remained a private family matter away from a courthouse and out of the public eye. But my mother left me with no choice," Mellon, Jimmy Choo's president, said in a statement.

Martin Zimmerman has the story. And about those punitive damages ... would that be a case of shoedenfreude?

No word yet if the judge allows sandals -- no matter the price -- in court.
