Designer Shoes: Manolo Blahnik

Manolo Blahnik is one of the world's top women's shoes designers. Much like other top footwear designers (Christian Louboutin comes to mind), Manolo Blahnik considers himself, and is considered by many, to be an artist.

However, much like other top shoe designers, he completely ignores the fact that his creations are supposed to be worn by women as footwear, which means that - ideally - women should be able to walk in them without causing themselves long-term back and foot problems.

Now, not all of Manolo Blahnik's designs are bad. In fact, he offers quite a few shoes with flat heels or that are otherwise sensible. But his signature look remains those impossible, pointy-toed, skinny-and-high-heeled shoes that cause me to feel pain upon just looking at them.

The prices? Around $1000, which means that Kerry Bradshaw was right - if you own 10 pairs of $1000 shoes, that's about half a down payment on your very own place.

It's a matter of priorities, I guess.
